From the cover of the March 12 issue of Wonderland magazine we can see the slightly shocked looking face of Nicki Minaj staring back at us. Perhaps she didn’t realise they were taking photos, though we are rather sceptical about that. What raises our interest however is the bright pink hair sported by pop’s newest star.
Hair can be ever so boring. I know mine is – brown and straight with not much going on. Of course there are exceptions – we love a good redhead or someone not afraid to show of their curls – but for the most part hair is plain and simple. Why not liven it with a splash of colour? A friend of mine once tried to dye his hair green – something that with his little expertise didn’t turn out quite as he’d planned, and a subsequent attempt to dye it a different colour resulted in a certain kind of muddy purple-blue that can’t have been what he was aiming for. This cautionary tale aside, we are all for those bold enough to liven up their life. Our personal favourites – blue, bright red, green (or maybe not) and, in honour of Nicki Minaj, pink.
We might not be dying our hair anytime soon (we sometimes need a certain air of respectability that electric pink doesn’t convey), but some day if you see us strolling down the street, lighting up the surroundings, don’t be surprised.
