Classic Rock contains exactly what it would say on it’s tin. A cascade of interviews with rock musicians and bands lies within the pages, as well as cracking photography and interesting anecdotes about your favourite members of the Classic Rock elite. There are detailed music suggestions for a variety of rock based music tastes and even some album reviews so you know what’s hot or not. In addition to this, there are profiles on old bands, career timelines and entire pages dedicated to festival and tour dates. A perfect read for the avid head banger who is perhaps as long in the tooth as he might once have been in the hair.

I think everyone has to experience a rock concert at one point in their life. My was, unfortunately, My Chemical Romance. Being only 14 years old at the time, my friends and I chose to get seated tickets and thank God we did, because our top activity of the night (aside from listening to the band) was counting the number of concussed or just passed out teenagers being extracted from the surging crowd by members of the security team. Later experiences of ‘the mosh pit’ were brilliant fun, yet terrifying. The adrenaline rush from leaping up and down, colliding with millions and sharing a passion for music is incredible, despite potentially emerging covered in sweat…most of it other peoples.

At a Bowling For Soup concert I couldn’t see the stage, so asked a friend of mine to lift me up. In a fit of humour, I believe, he decided to plonk me on top of the crowd, who happily passed me as one to the front barriers. My crowd surfing experience was exhilarating. Waving at the band and enjoying their music I had the perfect view… for all of about 45 seconds. Then I got removed from the surface of the crowd and was given a good telling off before being released back into the festival. I have to admit… It was totally worth it.
