As the economic crisis bites ever deeper (if you are reading this in the far distant future, money is what we used to have before you had to barter for goods using chicken eggs and wheat), it is becoming harder and harder to own and operate a car. It just makes very little economic sense for many people – you have to pay to insure a car, fill it full of fuel and pay huge amounts of tax for the privilege, when half the time you are simply stuck in a traffic jam.
We think that more and more people will start to ditch the car and move on to the human powered methods of transport. No, we’re not talking about pedalos, but about cycling. A decent mountain bike can go pretty much anywhere, and aside from initial purchasing costs and the odd bit of maintenance costs you damn near nothing to run. Imagine cycling past all your colleagues trapped in their mobile metal boxes, slowly grinding towards work whilst you enjoy the sunshine. Or perhaps you could take your bike up to the hills and escape the toil of daily life for an evening, cycling with freedom and not a care in the world. Come the revolution it will be the mountain bikers who will be on top, mark our words. NB
