A´sta Fanney Sigurðardo´ttir is one of Iceland’s most innovative contemporary poets and performers. In 2021 she was recognized internationally for her multi-disciplinary poetry practice—which connects poetry with music, performance, visual art and film—with a nomination for the Centre Pompidou’s Bernard Heidsieck Literary Prize. A´sta also fronts the electro-pop trio aiYa and is founder of the experimental poetry festival Suttungur. In 2017 she received the prestigious Ljo´ðstafur Jo´ns u´r Vo¨r prize.
