Socialist Lawyer is the journal of the Haldane Society and is published three times a year. The Haldane Society was founded in 1930 and provides a forum for the discussion and analysis of the legal system from a socialist point of view, both internationally and nationally. The society says that it is independent from any political party. The membership normally comprises of academics, legal workers and students. The magazine discusses the main legal topics in the current political and economic climate.

Socialist Lawyer magazine is aimed to be read by the members of the Haldane Society and those who are interested in joining the movement. The features are all fairly in-depth and academic in nature and will cover topics such as protests, the latest controversial government legislation and the news of events happening all over the globe. It’s all pretty heavy stuff which isn’t for the faint hearted.

There is a regular column in Socialist Lawyer magazine which is written by members of the Young Legal Aid Lawyers (YLAL) group and will contain an interesting young and alternative perspective on the entire latest goings on in the world of law and justice. There will normally be details of current ongoing legal battles and the latest issues on Human Rights and discrimination.

The entire Socialist Lawyer magazine is printed in black, white and grey which give it a more academic and grown up feel to it.
