Nothing quite brightens up life like a beautiful flower. There are a thousand and one (and perhaps even more) uses out there for a flower or two, many of them to be found in the pages of Flower magazine, but what they all do it bring a little colour to life.
Maybe you’ll be out for a stroll and take a detour through a public garden, only to be captivated and waylaid by the glorious smells and colours of a variety of different flowers. Perhaps you could use a few as a cheerful centrepiece for the table, something bright to liven up your dining experience. And as every man knows, there’s one guaranteed way to win the heart of the one you desire – buy her a beautiful bunch of flowers – roses the traditional choice but others are acceptable.
What many people don’t know however is that there is a secret world to flowers. The reason they are so wonderfully colourful is to attract insects such as bees to pollinate them, but not all insects see in the normal spectrum of light. Under ultra-violet light many flowers take on a whole new aspect of appearance, with even traditionally dull ones becoming wonderfully vibrant and the most colourful taking on new and different hues. Who knew that there were such hidden depths to flowers? NB
