Here at Newsstand we are fully of the opinion that the most important room in the house is the kitchen. This isn’t simply because it is where the food is made (though we do love our food), but because it is where the life is, where all the energy can be found.

Pretty much every other room is dedicated to resting in one form or another (though ironically not the ‘restroom’ as the Americans call it). The bedroom is for sleeping (amongst other things), the lounge or living room for sitting down and passing time in a relaxed manner. The study – if you have one – is a room dedicated to work, no fun to be found there, and in our opinion the dining room is merely where you enjoy what is created in the kitchen.

The kitchen is at the heart of the rhythm of life – meals prepared and cooked as people come and go to work or school, snacks snuck out from cupboards when no-one is watching, wine sipped, coke slurped, bacon sizzled and sausages roasted. It is home to the best conversations, the most outrageous attempts at culinary chemistry, an exploration of the tasty and the filling.
