Vintage Spirit proudly proclaims itself to be Britain’s number one magazine for steam and industrial heritage, and they do a fine job of living up to this billing. Every issue is packed full of the fantastic industrial history of this country, telling its story through the machines that made it the success it was. We have a particular love for steam powered traction engines, resplendent in their steel and iron, gorgeous paintwork and burnished brass and copper, one that was born from visits in our youth to the fantastic steam fairs held across the country.

They were experiences that involved all the senses – the wonderful sounds of boilers and complex mechanical actions, the sight of the magnificent machines, the smell of the coal and the smoke (who could ever forget the smell of the smoke!) the feel of them and of course the taste of the food from the burger vans. Steam festivals are experiences that are not easily forgotten, and that are great for the whole family. To help keep the love for steam and industrial heritage alive in this country we can’t recommend anything better than taking your partner and the little ones for an afternoon at your local steam fair.
