Here at Mindful Melody, we want to make the most of the increasing amount of mental health advice, insight and expression contained within music. It’s an incredibly positive thing that there’s now so much music out there covering themes of mental health. But it can also be quite overwhelming, and can wash over us without having much impact.
Mindful Melody aims to sift through all of this information and provide a monthly assortment of albums, songs, interviews, and articles that are all directed at the same goal -
Helping us to improve our mental health through music.
For Issue 6 of Mindful Melody Magazine, we decided to explore the idea of Slow Down and Simplify - a theme that often runs through country music, and something that we could all apply to our busy lives.
The global shutdowns and lockdowns have forced us to press pause, and this has given us the space to take stock and reshuffle our priorities. Now that everything is opening up again in the UK and US, it would be so easy and tempting to fall back into that stressful, pre-pandemic rhythm of living life in fast-forward. That’s why we feel it’s more important than ever to Slow Down and Simplify - to give us an appreciation for all of the basic pleasures in life, to take some time for ourselves and to keep our minds healthy.

Print on demand is an excellent new service being offered by Newsstand, reducing shipping and wastage and therefore a more eco-friendly option for magazines.
A study was conducted on behalf of the manufacturer of the printer in 2013 and found that (after summing the emissions and the credits) 60% less fossil GHG emissions were emitted during the life cycle of one sold copy of a magazine printed on demand, compared to a magazine printed and distributed in the traditional manner.
Factors considered include choice of paper, wastage of paper from traditional print runs and energy consumption of the printer, to name just a few.
