Go Girl is a very popular magazine, keeping pre teen girls amused with everything shown above plus things like dance moves to practise, ponies to coo at and often a free gift attached. There are posters, interviews with teen celebrities as well as competitions and school stories - whilst the earliest affairs of the heart are also catered for with the odd boy.

On the subject of magazine free gifts - Newsstand really hopes that publishers should try and produce a magazine that appeals for it's content and not because it's covered in sparkly choking hazards as so many are. The kids magazines are always the worst offenders - and we can understand why as children are the easiest to impress, but many of these gifts will have a lifespan of around 1.5 hours before breaking up into yet more pointless landfill.

There was one magazine that will remain unnamed that claimed a whopping 34 free gifts with one copy! The whole marketing process is squarely aimed at the 7 year olds who might want to have the gift, it's magazine maketing to kids and surely we all know the morals there - and that's even before the environmentalists get involved. It's not the increased postal costs, honestly.

Here's a great children's magazine, Discovery Box from Bayard press, it's far more educational and a little more expensive, but we think it's good value for money and there will be no lumps of plastic attached to it.
