This England is a quarterly magazine plus an annual issue that is included in subscriptions through us here at Newsstand.

This England is for all those who love England’s green and pleasant land. Well - come on - it’s still got green bits and some areas are nice enough…? It has a large readership among expatriates, and concentrates on the values and customs of England from the thirties to the fifties. Its been published four times a year since the 1960’s and its growth shows no sign of waning as it bids to become the best selling magazine about England and all that is good about it.

A slightly over sized magazine, This England is just a joy to read. We feel we should use words like “evocative” and “bygone eras” when we describe it (the publisher just sticks with “Britain’s loveliest magazine”). It’s really all very British, old chap, and we love it. Topics include stately homes, seaside resorts, English literary landscapes as well as then and now comparisons of English roads, railways or famous towns. The photography is excellent and we do suggest you buy just a copy of This England magazine and see for yourself - we probably have some in stock that we will send you right now, if you like….have a look up top.

This England is published by the same mob as Evergreen magazine and they are very similar publications, in celebrating English culture and values. Hard to say whether this is a growing or shrinking market really, certainly the content of these British magazines is becoming more and more historical - but that may make them more sought after.

Having said all that, we absolutely can’t not like them (permission to use double negative granted). If you are looking for a gift for a friend or relative who has moved abroad, they’ll thank you for a copy of This England or Evergreen Magazine - but be careful, they might move back home!
