Harvard is renowned across the world for being one of the leading universities there are. Sadly for the UK, Harvard, Yale and MIT are often found heading the lists of best uni, though of late Oxford and Cambridge have improved in the rankings. What are ranking though really? True value comes from whether they teach well and conduct good research, and on the strength of Harvard Design magazine they’ve certainly got this well covered.
If the quality of this publication reflects the standards of the teaching, then we can be sure that the future of the world’s architecture is in good hands. It offers informed, insightful and well-constructed looks at different architectural topics, for example focusing on a particular country or region, or a particular theme in design. The magazine itself is excellently produced – to be honest, to term it a magazine is to sell it a little short, this is a full blown ‘publication’ if ever we saw one – and is full of excellent imagery, and as you would expect it is excellently designed. It combines the rigorousness and attention to detail that you would expect from a scholarly publication with the fascinating and highly readable content from a normal magazine, making Harvard Design Magazine a fine choice for anyone with interests in the subject.
