A strange and curious but unendingly fascinating read, Man About Town is an intriguing biannual men’s magazine.
Each issue of this quirky publication is themed around a topic seemingly chosen at whim – for example, the spring/summer 2012 issue is themed around dogs. Inside you’ll find the very latest men’s fashions and styles, intriguing articles relating to the theme by a host of illustrious contributors, and some gorgeous photography. Perfect for followers of style and fashion and those with a love for the quirky and the eccentric. It also normally comes with 6 ‘postcards from the edge’, possibly the edge of sanity.

We’d just like to take this time to have a closer consideration of the quirky and curious collection of curios that forms the spring/summer 2012 issue of man about town. We think that this magazine is aimed at the modern gentleman, eager to know not only what the latest styles and fashions are, but eager to also expand his knowledge and appreciate some odd humour.
Inside you’ll find some genuinely interesting articles on the likes of dog fighting in Cuba, but flick back a page from that and you’ll find a collection of strange fashions worn by teenagers – the silver metallic suit a particular oddity amongst them. Then, later on as they carry on the ‘dog’ theme, there is another fashion collection photo shoot, only this time the dogs are wearing the human clothes. Yes, you read that right, not dogs simply dressed up in dog clothing, but dogs in human clothes. We’d make a pun about ‘barking mad’ but they made it themselves on the cover!
We really don’t quite know how to approach this magazine, aside from to say that it is endlessly fascinating, well produced and designed, and quite fully and utterly mad. And you know what? We love it. NB
