The perpetual problem with dieting – at least that experienced by us here at Newsstand – is that it’s so boring. Really. You are hugely limited in what you can eat, and seem to spend every moment counting calories, examining fats and figuring out vitamins when secretly you are simply dying to get your hands on a pizza and a beer.
We’re not the healthiest people, we’ll happily admit that.
Clean eating isn’t about giving up food though, It is instead more of a lifestyle choice, choosing to try and eat things as nature intended, without processing and the manufacturing that homogenises all our food. It isn’t so much about giving up as changing food; you can really eat as much as you like as long as you do your best to keep it au naturel (no laughing there).
A few of the best recommendations are the simplest ones – remember to drink plenty of water, go easy on the alcohol and perhaps most importantly savour every mouthful. Perhaps you remember when you were young your mum telling you to chew every mouthful 40 times? Well, in principal she’s right. We never have time for anything nowadays, always rushing back and forth, and don’t tend to take the time to appreciate flavour. What’s more, it takes a little while for your stomach to tell your brain it’s full, so those who eat fast inevitably overeat. So, slow down, eat naturally and you’re life really will improve. NB
