Froots magazine is very unusual publication. It shuns the mainstream pop culture and instead focuses on the mostly unsung talents of folk and alternative artists. Why these types of artists and bands are so unheard of in today’s charts we don’t really know, frankly we are getting tired of the constant stream of techno based pop songs and largely auto-tuned releases. Is there anyone else out there who is fed up of the whole Bieber Fever phenomenon? We wish there was more variety for our ears! Luckily for us there is this magazine to bring us up to speed on alternative music directions. Fans of folk and roots music will adore this magazine’s fun and enthusiastic take on the music scene.
We were a bit confused when we picked up the cover and pondered what it could possibly be about. It isn’t immediately obvious what it contains. ‘Froots’ is certainly an unusual name for a magazine. Yes, we realise that it is a mixture of ‘folk’ and ‘roots’ before you all roll your eyes! We like that fact that this magazine could be quite obscure to those who don’t appreciate the folk and roots music scene. By choosing a strange name the magazine is making sure that only real fans can identify what it is really about.
Readers can stay up to date with all the latest news and goings on which may be tricky to find anywhere else because of the less well known nature of the music. We like people who don’t follow the crowd like sheep. If you are screaming out for some variety on your Ipod then get yourself a copy of Froots and see what new music you can discover.
