We love the kind of Marque specific magazine like Triumph World for the simple reason that they absolutely love their subjects. You can really feel the passion for these iconic British cars on every page of the magazine, and it is full of features examining the different variants and examples of Triumphs and their proud history. It also offers looks at many different readers’ cars, lovingly cared for and in many cases excellently modified and customised.
Back in 1884, when the company was first founded, there wasn’t much in the way of motoring to be done. Triumph was instead a bicycle company, initially importing and later constructing bikes. It subsequently moved on to producing motorbikes, and then later high-quality cars. The one thing we can definitely say, with apologies for the terrible pun, is that the company and the cars and bikes they produced was an absolute triumph of British engineering and design.
The Triumph Motor Company is sadly now defunct, going out of business in 1984, just one year short of its centenary. What this means is that there are of course no longer any Triumphs being made, and as a result there is a very finite number of models out there, so a quick message to any Triumph driver – be careful, you are replaceable but the car isn’t!
