If there’s one car marque you know you can rely upon to get you where you need to be, quickly and in fantastic style, then it is the Porsche. Other cars may be better looking (we have a particular penchant for the Aston Martin here at Newsstand), but for the all round package it really is nigh upon impossible to better that classic work of German engineering – the Porsche.
Porsches always give off an air of effortlessness, of understated cool. They do not need to scream at the world ‘look at me! I’m so fast and soooo stylish!’ as some garishly coloured and designed supercars do. Instead they can purr along, content in the knowledge that all the power in the world is contained under the bonnet. This isn’t to say that they are workman like – far from it. The Porsche, in particular the absolutely classic 911, is the perfect blend of form and function – a stylish car where you can pretty much guarantee that every single tiny detail, right down to windscreen wipers, has been clinically engineered to be the best that it can be. To get there quickly, stylishly and in a sophisticated manner, you can’t do better than a Porsche – other people might roar up to the party hours late in their Ferrari, doing their best to show off – you’ll already be inside sipping drinks and swapping anecdotes with the ladies.
