It takes such skill to be able to put together and paint these model cars so minutely and perfectly. While flicking through Scale Auto Magazine I’ve discovered quite a lot, including the fact that some experts design completely new cars to their personal tastes by using bits and bobs from other kits.

It reminds me a lot of a television show I used to watch when I was younger, where people with cheap and bedraggled cars would be nominated by their friends for a car make over. They did some utterly ludicrous and amazing things to these vehicles, often to suit the personality of the driver. My favourite had to be a beaten up old land rover turned into a fully functioning skateboard ramps, complete with huge speakers, ice cream machine and television. The ramp folded out of the boot a stretched up and around the whole car, meaning it’s driver could get out and practise his tricks nearly anywhere, and watch a movie with ice cream if he got tired.

Another was for a girl who wanted to set up a roaming make up company, so they turned the interior of her little red van into a beauty salon, complete with tvs, tanning bed and nail technician desk! Just goes to show, a car doesn’t always have to be just a car.
