The thing that we love about art, and that the people behind Art.Es magazine clearly love too, is that it can be anything. Literally anything. The only limit to what is and isn’t art is the imagination of the artist, and knowing a few artists we can say that that is pretty expansive.
Art can be simple, it can be as little as a canvas painted in one colour that can nevertheless move viewers to tears. It can be complex, a hugely impressive accomplishment that takes years to produce. It can be realistic, a stunning painting or sketch that perfectly captures a moment or a person, it can even be a photograph, faithfully printed or digitally manipulated. It can be abstract, something that is strange, obscure and challenging but nevertheless stunning. It can be small, a tiny sculpture in the eye of a needle, or it can be something grand, occupying a huge expanse. It can be deep, meaningful and personal, and angry exclamation or it can mean absolutely nothing at all.
There is no simple definition of what is and isn’t art, but if like us you find beauty and inspiration in everything around you, then the whole world is one enormous gallery, a permanent and marvellous exhibit. NB
