There’s a war. At least that’s the perception of many computer users who draw up battle lines between the supporters of Microsoft and the fanatics of Apple. Of course, here at Newsstand we don’t discriminate based upon the computer hardware someone uses (well, not often), but if we did we would have to take up position on the side of Bill Gates.

Macs are fine for a purpose, don’t get us wrong. If you want a stylish system that works okay, then you don’t need to look any further. If, however, you want something that can be scaled to suit any budget and need, that can be perfectly at home playing games, crunching the numbers in the office or working as a media centre, then the mighty PC is for you. The flexibility that a computer allows you – you can remove and upgrade components yourself (or get your tech-savvy son to do it for you) as and when required, and as a result you can do pretty much anything. Why limit yourself in the name of style? Choose a PC and ditch the over-expensive and under-performing Apple.

Ah, we came over rather more partisan than we intended there, but we have a point – the tagline for Official Windows Magazine is ‘the only computer magazine for real life!’, and it’s hard to argue with that.

Pardon? Android you say, what’s that? NB
