Running is something that we here at Newsstand should really do more of. Its not that we are exceptionally lazy (honest!) its more that we far to much enjoy a refreshing pint or three down at the White Hart of an evening, and that sadly doesn’t work improve either diet or exercise. We are therefore slightly guilty non-runners, but we can completely understand the reasons why people become devoted runners.
As an exercise it is pretty much perfect – it is the most natural of things to do after all – and it is probably the most accessible. All you need to get started is a pair of trainers, some suitable clothing and a place to run – and that of course can be absolutely anywhere. Running is something where you can push your body to the very limit, or simply have a nice jog to burn off a few calories and wake yourself up.
We were very impressed by the example of Johnny Ouweleen. This 71 year old runner is far fitter than we will likely ever be (something we’re a little ashamed to write), and has recently completed a marathon in 3 hours and twenty minutes. This blew us away, as if we were to try a marathon we would probably have to book a hotel for halfway. NB
Running Times Magazine is in the Trialthlon & Running category and is just one of over 3,000 magazines now available at Newsstand, to browse recent front covers of Running Times Magazine, please click here.
