My Grandfather used to tell me several ghost stories before he died and he insisted that they were all true, but I was never absolutely sure. He was a great believer in ghosts and poltergeists, but he was never one to fear them and he tended to have a very accepting attitude of the whole phenomenon. For example, he would often laugh at a poltergeist who used to make loud dashing footsteps behind his mother and her sisters in their younger years as they went up and down the stairs in their family home in Ireland. Personally, I agree. People think that they are scared of ghosties and ghouls when really they are just afraid of the unknown, but I figure there isn’t much point in crossing that bridge until you come to it. Some say that ghosts who are earthbound have unfinished business, so why not just help them along? My Dad and sister both saw the same ghost in our old house, a small redheaded girl in a Victorian nightdress. She was afraid of my Father it seems, because he said she only poked her head around the door for a few moments. However, both my parents heard my sister (aged 4 then) playing with her for hours before they went in and my sister said ‘Oh, you’ve scared my friend away.’ Perhaps I should send that one into Ghost Voices, see what they make of it!
