The painfully good looking visage of Daniel Radcliffe staring out at us from the front of this magazine, all chiselled jaw and piercing blue eyes, makes us at Newsstand terribly aware of the passing of time. It seems only yesterday that Daniel was a young Harry Potter, just about to set off to Hogwarts after finding out that, yes, Harry, you’re a wizard. He must have been, oh, something like 10 or 11 years old. And now he is a full grown man.
How time passes.
Yet strangely, it seems that the same isn’t always true for the leading men of Hollywood. There is still the same array of famous names starring in the blockbusters; Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Orlando Bloom… Do these men ever age?
This isn’t the same for women however. There seems to be a cut-off point where you are too old to be cast as the beautiful leading lady, and it is far too low in my humble opinion. Someday soon there is going to be a shift in the male leads, and a whole new generation will appear. I don’t know who the new men will be, but I wonder if in the future we will look back on this time as a golden age of leading men.
