There has been a movement afoot in recent years to make connections between what we eat, how we live and the planet. Modern Farmer exists for people who want to be a part of that movement—it is for window-herb growers, career farmers, people who have chickens, people who want to have chickens and anyone who wants to know more about how food reaches their plate.
A truly global food culture magazine, Modern Farmer delves into issues faced by farmers and smallholders across the world. Don't be led astray by the title, Modern Farmer is not a trade magazine as much as a lifestyle publication for those who know the importance of sustainable, balanced and local farming methods.
Excellent production values and design is sometimes enough for any magazine, but Modern Farmer goes so much further with a wealth of interesting information that will help you understand where your food comes from and how you can get involved, whilst getting right into the minds of producers who really know their trade.

Farming is close to our hearts here at Newsstand, there is an awful lot wrong with it at the moment but also very exciting times and developments within the smaller sectors. Folk appear to be taking more interest in their food and how it has arrived on their doorstep, assisted perhaps by the annual food scare that crops up...
The great thing about Modern Farmer, is the way it sits, ever so comfortably, between trade and lifestyle in its content. It's extremely interesting to those keen on food and its development but there is also plenty of ideas and information that small and medium scale farmers could latch on to and take "into the office".
The Modern Farmers, if you will, are a new breed of small scale pioneers who are busy doing what they do for the sheer love of their produce. From chickens to wild boars, organic rice production in China to the perfect vegetable patch in Kent; there is an huge amount going on in the world of agriculture on which Modern Farmer elaborates so well - one of our favourites....already.
Farm, food, life. Indeed.
