This magazine and it's contributors recently won an Exceptional Merit in Media Award (EMMA) for its break though articles which aimed to shed light on difficult women’s issues. What is great about Ms Magazine is that it strives to publish articles on hard hitting and controversial issues which many other publications would rather ignore.
This magazine is ideal for the woman who is tired of looking at scantily clad skinny models in every other woman’s magazine as well as being harassed by the media to look a certain way or else be ostracised from society. With articles such as ‘fighting femicide’ and ‘Abortion Rights on the line’ this magazine likes to push boundaries and tear down others preconceptions.
One of the best features in the magazine is a ‘keeping score’ section which aims to produce charts and quotes from celebrities and politicians on the topic of gender equality. It will regularly point out great milestones which have been reached by famous women all over the world. Such as Kamla Harris, who has become the first female African and Indian American to hold the position of California's Attorney General. The magazine likes to celebrate these accomplishments and uses them to inspire other women to push themselves harder for what they want.
This a really refreshing women’s magazine, without an anorexic or skeletal looking model in sight. It is for mature women who like to fight for what they want and not stand for injustice. If you are a strong independent woman with an interest in feminism then we’d strongly recommend this magazine.
