As a company, Audi has a more than solid reputation. Not only are the cars styled in a restrained yet undeniably elegant manner, they are incredibly reliable and powerful when needed.
What you drive has a big effect on how other people see you. We’re not going to get into the whole thorny issue of whether this should be the case (though for the record we prefer not to judge on appearances, though still do without thinking about it), but it is hard to argue that this isn’t the case. Just as you wouldn’t turn up to an important business meeting wearing shorts, sandals and a slightly grubby t-shirt, so you wouldn’t turn up in a battered and rusted hatchback.
The world of business relies a lot upon the concept of professionalism; how you act, speak, think and look are all important factors in how seriously people take you. This is of course extended to the car you drive. Audis still have a pretty untarnished reputation (unlike, say, the BMW where you instantly assume that the driver is a bit of a…), and represent the perfect blend between power, style and respectability. Now if only we could afford a new one. NB
