This is now my personal favourite magazine for a very specific reason. Not because I love vans (I remain reasonably ambivalent, though can understand the appeal), or because I am interested in their long and no doubt varied history, but because one of the classic vans featured in an article (mabel apparently) comes from near the village I lived in whilst growing up. Yes, I really am that easily swayed.
The name of the village is even painted on the back of the van. This is genuinely the first time I, believe, that I have ever seen the name of my village in a national publication. Makes me feel all warm and proud. The van itself is a rather lovely Morris Minor, and is painted up with detailing from the farm possessed by the owner to give it a nice, old-timey kind of feeling. The nostalgia is so thick that you could cut it with a knife, and it does leave me wishing to have experienced a past from long before I was born.
So, if any magazine editor out there wants a positive write-up, simply mention Henfield (and send me a bribe, I love bribes) and you are pretty much guaranteed a glowing review of your publication. NB
