Here at Newsstand we had a nice long think about a question highly relevant to the topic of Military Machines – if we could have any military vehicle, old or new, what would we choose? Here are a few of the results:
Jeep: rugged and reliable, unlikely to let you down. However, suffers rather in terms of fighting ability and is frankly rather boring.
Fighter Jet: rather the opposite of the Jeep, certainly exciting enough, but if anything is too exciting. Also, hugely expensive in terms of fuel, and we don’t currently have a runway attached to Newsstand Hovels (though perhaps a Harrier Jump Jet would work)
Helicopter: Now we’re talking. Preferably heavily armed, doesn’t need a runway and more than enough to scare the hell out of the neighbours. One significant downside – none of us actually know how to fly a helicopter.
Tank. That’s the one! Delightfully all terrain, and by all accounts actually not that difficult to drive, the tank is the unanimous decision amongst Newsstand staff as to our military vehicle of choice. We look forward to laughing with glee as we rumble down the road, crushing the neighbours’ geraniums under the treads of our tank. Probably not that practical, but frankly who cares! NB
