On the front of Jill Oxton’s Cross Stitch and Bead Weaving there is a jokey little disclaimer: ‘Warning: We will take no responsibility for sleep deprivation and lack of housework or other domestic duties’. At least, we hope that it’s jokey. These kinds of arts and crafts hobbies can be pretty addictive, but we hope that no-one will stay up every night, unable to control their desire to cross stitch.
This magazine is the perfect example of one person’s absolute love for a hobby, being pretty much entirely compiled by Jill Oxton herself, a lovely, friendly and warm seeming lady, since 1990. As such you get interesting personal insights and anecdotes about the designs, such as the mistake that turned out perfectly, where an error in design actually resulted in a fantastic looking piece of work.
We applaud those who love something enough to create a magazine about it, and firmly believe that if more people took the time to fully explore the things they love (and somehow make a living out of it) then the world would be a significantly happier place. It is truly heart-warming to read the letters sent in to this magazine from happy subscribers sharing their thoughts and feelings about the magazine and the designs. NB
Jill Oxton`S Cross Stitch Magazine is in the Quilting category and is just one of over 3,000 magazines now available at Newsstand, to browse recent front covers of Jill Oxton`S Cross Stitch Magazine, please click here.
