Flower arranging magazine subscriptions are very popular at Newsstand and it's a wonderfully traditional craft that brings beauty to everyday life. Can't be bad.
Art Floral magazine is in French, but it has superb ideas with a modern and fresh approach to flower arranging. It's from the same publishers as the extremely popular but sadly ceased publication, Flower Inspirations.
It focuses on imagery, so you may find that the ability to speak French is not entirely necessary. However, don't forget the instructions could be tricky. All the flower names are in Latin so that helps, (apparently..)
Art Floral is quite a slim magazine and release dates are never quite certain, but it is still a specialist magazine of high quality.
If you are keen to stick to English, may we recommend the beautifully presented Fleur Creatif.
All we can add is that it was such a shame that our most popular flower arranging publication had to go and "cease" on us. This just goes to show how difficult it is for magazines with no major marketing spend find it to survive in a world where it will cost you thousands just to get a slot in a famous chain of stores, every week. The chances of you finding new magazines to enjoy in the current climate are slim to none....it's unlikely you are going to scour lots of independent shops to find the odd copy of something hidden on the bottom shelf?
Thats' why we have launched The Pocket Newsstand android mobile app - it gives every magazine the same airtime and will let users browse front covers and buy single copies easily from their phone. It may be too late for many but hopefully it'll go some way to protecting this incredible world of British magazines for a few years yet.
