Published thrice yearly (and brought out in the UK in February, July and October), Esse magazine is a contemporary arts magazine from Canada. Every issue is bilingual, with French and English translations of its fantastic articles. The magazine focuses on contemporary art and multidisciplinary practices looking at the interconnections between art, communities and social issues.
Each issue is chock full of essays by artists and critics debating artistic production. Commenting on more traditional and innovative artpieces, whether they can fit in a gallery or are part of the outside world (such as the UNESCO protected manicured lawn of the Bauhaus campus in Dessau). Each issue has a particular themed section and hosts artist portfolios, views on international projects and a section on upcoming cultural events and exhibitions.
