The iPad is pretty damn cool. When it was first announced, and when the first photos of it came out, we laughed to ourselves, feeling smugly sure that it was going to be a useless and overpriced device that would be practical for no-one. Well, two iterations down the line we can firmly and comprehensively say that we were wrong, and for that we apologise to you Apple fans. Sorry. We really are.
The iPad is no longer a slightly ridiculous gimmick, an iPhone expanded to a ludicrously impractical size. We do however still secretly like to pretend that we have been hit with some kind of shrinking ray and that it is in fact an iPhone and we are tiny. Ahem. Anyway, the iPad has actually become an incredibly functional mobile computing device, capable of actually running pretty much anything you can throw at it. Sure, it does lack some of the capabilities of other things – we are still deeply attached to the concept of a physical keyboard, but then we’d be writing this on an old-fashioned typewriter if we could post to the internet on it – but it is powerful, elegantly designed and highly functional. Which makes it alright in our book – although blatantly no good for magazines…but you know this, right? NB
