This BBC children's magazine tries hard to bridge the humungus gap between education and fun. Most of the ideas in the magazine correspond to the tasks these children will be performing at school. Sounds like a sneaky way of getting the kids to do some homework without them realising, to us.

Newsstand has a mixed view on BBC magazines. Yes, they are generally very good and the quality can not be denied. We are pleased to offer such informative magazines in our store. Some of the Childrens magazines are excellent, including this one. However, we can't quite get our tiny little heads around the business model of a citizen funded organisation competing with UK magazine publishers, owned by and employing....citizens.

In view of this and the interests of balance, we'll take this opportunity to point out an excellent and high quality educational magazine made by a French publisher, Story Box, it's written in English and is an excellent choice with great stories for the little ones, we think.

BBC Toybox is also guilty of attaching free gifts of a dubious plastic nature to it's magazines. The magazine is good enough with out it, we say.
