Monster High magazine seems to be carrying on the fine American tradition of linking school with monsters. Think Teen Wolf, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and so on.
Here at Newsstand we can certainly get behind any attempt to make kids seem more interesting. People may have ideas that when you are young you are free of obligations and able to do absolutely anything you fancy. When you get a bit older, and become a teenager you apparently live a life of wild, unrestrained hedonism, at least according to the writers of skins. This may be true in some cases, but for the vast majority it simply isn’t. Kids and teenagers are actually dull, dull human beings 99% of the time, so transforming them into supernatural creatures of the darkest night seems to frankly be a step in the right direction.
School would certainly have been a lot more fun with a few monsters around. We can only assume that the vampires would have been the popular, fashionable kids, the werewolves likely the sporty ones, and the mummies, erm, probably good at ancient history. Just don’t ask them to do any woodwork, the bandages have a tendency to get snagged in the machines and trust me, you don’t want to see what’s underneath. NB
